2003 Accord EX V6 Lightweight underdrive Pulley cause check engine light flashing
2003 Accord Sedan EX V6, Automatic, 118k (Oil changed every 3,000 miles, transmission fluid changed less than 10,000 ago, new timing belt and water pump, new plugs)
As we know there isn't much engine mod available for the J30A4 engine in the 2003 Accord other than the intake. I was very happy to find a lightweight underdrive pulley on eBay. SO I installed it and put on a shorter belt for the diameter reduction.
Now the engine revs faster and a noticeable gain in power. BUT.... it revs to 6,500 rpm if I floor it in second gear, as I don't recall the redline was that high for the automatic. And every time it hits that 6,500 rpm, the check engine light flashes for a few seconds and goes away. The car drives just like before, no misfires.
Should I be worried?
Thanks a lot!

Thanks for joining.
Yes a "flashing" CEL is worse than a solid CEL.
Many parts stores will scan codes for free. I'd have it checked for any stored codes. If there are any, get the actual code(s) from them...not their description of the issue. The post the codes and the "back ground" info in the General Tech section and we can go from there.
