You don't have to remove the oil. You can either change the plugs before or after the VC gasket change.

No need to drain the oil.

For spark plug removal, I'd say either way is ok. I'd probably remove and replace the spark plugs first to avoid dropping anything into the upper part of the cylinder head.

Should I also change all of the spark plug coils when I change the spark plugs?
