Default 2003 V6 Accord Hood Struts

Just purchased a 2003 Accord with struts that are not working. Any recommendations for replacement without using Honda parts. Thanks for the help.

There are some strong arm brand hood struts on amazon that have good reviews. Haven't had too many people post on here about the hood struts, so you may not get a lot of responses.

I remember someone saying they got the struts from Rock Auto.

Several years ago I was working under the hood of my 2006 Accord and had my back turned to the car when the hood came crashing down... it scared the you-know-what out of me!!!! I never thought of getting replacements because I wanted a fail-safe device that held up the hood. If the hood came down on my neck I would be pushing up daisies!!

I made my strut of wood and works just fine... it also requires a small piece of angle iron to attach to the hood. When the hood is up, the bottom of the strut rests behind the air cleaner box. With the hood down, the strut rests just above the negative post of the battery. I used a non-conducting material just to be on the safe side.

An alternative to those gas struts...
