Default 2003 V6 EX Auto Transmission Slipping?

I've got a 2003 V6 EX coupe with 145K on the odometer. I had the transmission changed under warranty back at around 70K, but it's starting to act up again. When I first start it up, it drives and shifts fine up until about 50mph and it just won't hold the gear after that. It's almost like it gets to a point where the gears just disappear. The tach shoots up to 5K and if I coast back down to 45mph, I can get the gear back. After driving for about 5-10 minutes, the 50mph threshold drops to about 30mph then quickly after that it drops again to about 25-20. At that point it just limps along and struggles to stay at 20mph. It grabs first gear well from a stop, but when it shifts to second or third after that it just won't keep the gear. It started this all at once on my wife on her way home from work, so it wasn't a gradual thing.

This is totally different than the last time it went out. That time it would downshift randomly to second gear, even at highway speeds.

Any ideas, recommendations or price estimates are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I guess I'm surprised there's no responses about the fragile auto-trannys. Not sure how I can help, I don't know that much about automatics.

Fluid changes done regularly? What fluid? Did you drain/fill or did you power-flush it?

My last fluid change was about 30K ago and it was just drained and filled, not power flushed.

I have never heard of transmission problems with 03 and newer models before..... But it does not sound good at all. I don't think there is any easy fix here. Did the replacement trans have any warranty?

Default Same problem

Hey Gringo Starr, I'm going through the same problem with my 03 v6. Have you resolved it? My friend found this website http://www.carcomplaints.com/Honda/A...on/index.shtml and we're going to try to put in a new torque converter and see if that helps any.
