Default 2003 V6 Persistent Whining

Hi everyone,

I have a 2003 Honda Accord V6. A year or so ago, it started to make a whining sound whenever I step on the gas, and in all range of temperatures. It only goes away when in the 50+ mph range (or maybe the highway drowns out the noise). Any speed lower and it makes the noise.

Even when the car is stationary and running, it is very audible two yards away.

I have read about the power steering problem
http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=25654
, but whether turning the wheel or not, its the same level of noise, and mine persists even in hot temperatures.

Its been getting louder a week ago and I have absolutely no clue, sounds like some kind of belt?

I have posted a video of the problem on Ytube:

Also, is this bad? I turn the engine on for a minute, then shut it off, and took a picture of inside the power steering fluid...

First check the power steering fluid level in the reservoir. See attached from owner's manual.

Leave the car running and look inside the ps res. Might even have someone slowly turn the wheels side to side.

If you see "foam" or bubbles then this could be a leak in the o-ring on the ps pump.

Ok, I turned on the car when the engine was cold, left it running and turned the wheels side to side for a minute, but no air bubbles showed up. Then I drove around the neighborhood for a minute and checked the ps fluid again; now there were many air bubbles.

This o-ring, could a generic 13mm by 1.9mm ring work or do I have to get Honda's official part?

I had to change the oring on my 03 V6. I started the car one morning and it was suddenly very loud. Honda changed the oring, so I would get one from them. The new oring should be orange, instead of black like the original. The pump inlet joint leaks air into the pump, so the air has to go from the pump, through the steering rack, and back to the reservior, so it takes a while for the bubbles to show.
