2004 Honda Accord - Need Some Pointers
Hi! I have a 2004 Honda Accord Ex and it has a little over 200,000 miles on it. I have recently run into an issue with it not accelerating or shifting into the correct gear. When I shift out of park, there is little to no response until it warms up for about 5 minutes. When I accelerate, there is a loud grinding noise and then it jolts forward and revs up but does not catch the proper gear. It also will not reverse either. My parents gave me the car and I've been maintaining it myself since last year. I am thinking it is a transmission issue as the light next the D "Drive" is blinking when I try to drive it. It won't go past maybe 30 mph and it revs up to high rpms. I can take off initially if I shift to D3 or 1 or 2 but I can't take off in Drive. I've checked and cleaned out all solenoids and their filters. My next idea was to change the transmission fluid and transmission filter. I was thinking maybe the fluid is dirty because in the winter it drove worse than it did in the summer when the fluid was heated up. Any other ideas I should explore? I am just trying to milk as many miles out of it as possible. Nothing else on the car is an issue.
