2005 Accord basic maintenance question
Hi guys, just found this site today. I have a 2005 Honda Accord ex with 31,000 miles on it. I have only put 350 mile on it in the last 3 years. We are planning a trip to Cherokee, NC next week which is only about 150 miles away. My question is this car is all original, hoses, coolant, fluids, tires you name it. The only thing I have ever done to this car is have the oil changed every 12 months per the manual and replaced the battery and cabin filter one time. It is garaged and I keep it on a trickle charger and drive it a few miles every few weeks.
I was wondering if the coolant hoses tend to fail due to mileage or could dry-rot. They look fine to me and the drive belt appears fine, I don't see any major cracks and it doesn't make any weird noises. Just wonder if anyone has any opinions or suggestions since I don't want a break down.
Thanks in advance,
Paul

Kind of a debate.
Me, a hose is going to go when it decides to....two years old or 20 years old. Yes, older cars used a different tech on hose construction and were more prone to fail. I personally have to '07 Honda's with OE hoses on them and both have over 150K on them.....I'd road trip tomorrow with no worries.
You didn't state if the car is a four or six so I'll leave that for another discussion.
I would not worry, you are changing, checking the oil level on a regular interval - checking is key in between oil changes. I would not worry/stress over things....check the oil level, "kick" the tires and enjoy the trip.
