Unhappy 2005 Accord LX climate control issues

I am new here and new at posting.
I have a 2005 Accord LX 2.4l. The issue I am having is the vent selector wants to constantly stay blowing out the floor vents. If I change it to max ac(blowing out the dash vents) or any other setting it will change back to the floor by itself. Sometimes it will stay after a while but it is a pain.
Any ideas?

Does the HVAC change the display for the different modes, like vent, defrost, floor, etc?

It has no display. It is a single zone non display unit. The only thing it has is a little green light on or just above each button( can't remember atm). It will also "lock up" at times so no matter what button you press, it will still blow to the floor and will indicate as such. Then it will let me change it again. I am so baffled.

Try getting HVAC codes. The common DIY thread on top of the gen tech help forum has a link to read HVAC codes for climate control cars. Let us know what code(s) you get.

The only code I could get was 2. I tried doing it again but it kept changing from vent to floor as I was doing the test.

For completeness, have you had any recent work done on the car just before you had this issue?

Code 2 isn't listed for the HVAC troubleshooting just alphabetical numbers.

The problem can be the mode control motor, the wiring, or the climate control. There are some tests you can try to identify the issue. Strangely, the mode control motors are different between a 4-door and a 2-door accord. Is your car a 2 or 4 door?

No work done on the car except charging the refrigerant due to it being low.
It does this year round although it is worse in the summer and it the heat of the day.

Mine it the second post in the hvac code area. Labeled 03-07 without climate control. It blinks twice. I am waiting on tools so I don't damage the unit or dash. Thinking it also might have something to do with my radio not working.

Mine is a 4 door.

Chevys are notorious for something similar. Try removing the AC relays, turning the key to the on position (but not starting) then back to off and replace the relays.
