Default 2005 Malfunction Light-Thermostat

I have a 2005 accord, 4 cyl, with about 53,000 miles. The malfunction indicator light came on a week ago, so brought it to autozone to have it read. the guy told me that the code said that the thermostat was reading higher than it wants to (said it was normal for the weather at the time-subzero minnesota winters). the light went off after I started the car again, assuming that it was reset. then about 5 days later, it came on again. should i be concerned or just assume it's the same issue?

Go back to autozone and get the actual code. It will start with the letter P and have 4 numbers. Post that code on here, and we can give you more detailed advice.

There are a bunch of codes for the coolant temp. The descriptions that the people at autozone give are pretty generic. That is why I was asking for the actual code.

The problem will either be with the thermostat, engine coolant temp (ECT) sensor, or the wiring.

P0116 Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Problem Comprehensive
P0117 Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Circuit Low Input Comprehensive
P0118 Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Circuit High Input Comprehensive
P0125 Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Slow Response Comprehensive
P0128 Cooling System Malfunction Comprehensive (Thermostat)
