Lightbulb 2006 Accord EX Oil?

Hello y'all!!

So i got my accord, however, the dealership did not include an owners manual, and for some reason they refuse to send me one by mail.

Could you please help me with an oil-change question?

I took my car to Firestone to change oil. So i was wondering if I could change oil myself? What brand of oil would I have to buy? Can i use fully synthetic oil for my car? It has 29K miles on it right now. I drive a lot on a highway - about 70 miles one way (so 140 miles 4 times a week). So the oil-change time comes in about every 2-3 weeks!!!! so I was wondering if I could use fully synthetic oil. if so, what brand?

If not, could you just help me out what brand of regular oil should I buy so i can change it myself? And what brand of filter should I get?

Best regards,
Janetta

I suggest using Mobil1 Extended Performance in the viscosity specified for your engine, along with Mobil1 Extended Performance filter.

This combination should be good for 10K or whatever your MM says.
And yes, change the oil yourself, you'll et to know your car better!

Go to www.ahm-ownerlink.com
(Honda's Owner's Link website)
Register there with your car's VIN and somewhere in there you should be able to read your owner's manual on-line. Last I looked, it's not a complete downloadable copy, so you have to view it on-line.
Recently someone in Canada said his VIN didn't work, so I bet it's only for USA cars???

Thank you for your replies.

crvone: how do i know the viscosity specified for my engine???

and is Mobil1 a fully synthetic oil then?

JimBlake: Thank you a lot. I will try to register the car later, since i don't have a VIN on me.

Try the year & model, that may work. You can register yourself to create a username & password, then add your VIN later.

Oil weight is 5w-20.

"Mobil-1" is full synthetic. It has been known as one of the better ones for using type-IV base stock, instead of the hydro-cracked type-III of Castrol Syntech. But lately it's been difficult to verify that's still true.

Mobil makes semi-synthetic & petroleum oils but they're called different names, not "Mobil-1".

www.bobistheoilguy.com will have enough information about engine oil to make your head explode. Those guys have their used oil analyzed for fun.

Yes, read the bottle. Around here (USA) it's labeled like this...
"Mobil Clean 5000" = petroleum
"Mobil Clean High Milage" = petroleum
"Mobil Clean 7500" = semi-synthetic
"Mobil-1" = full synthetic
"Mobil-1 Extended Performance" = full synthetic
