Question 2007 Accord EX-L: Glove Cmpt. Rattle + Antenna Issue

I'm hoping these are two easy fixes and I realize they are probably silly questions to you guys, but I don't know anything about this stuff.

I just bought a new/used 2007 Accord EX-L.

I don't really have money to pay mechanics or audio guys at the moment, so I'm hoping that, I, a total noob who can barely hammer a nail into the wall, can try and fix them.

Issue 1: I have noticed that the glove compartment rattles when I'm driving. The sound is at a frequency that makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end and is driving me batsh-t insane. It's like fingernails on chalkboard. Argh. If I open it up, the rattle stops so I'm pretty sure it has to do with the catch/clasp part. However, I don't see anything to tighten when I took a look at it. In the meantime, I've been automatically reaching over to open up the glove compartment when I get in the car. This doesn't help if I have passengers, though. Anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?

Issue 2: The radio antenna is this car sucks. There is a quick little ssst of static that comes and goes as the car moves, but is pretty constant and very annoying. Is there something I can do to boost the signal? I'm in a very metropolitan area and should have absolutely no problem picking up clean signal. Heck, the stock radio in my 1997 car had better reception that this. It is the stock radio, without Navi.

Thanks ever so much in advance.

How about loose screws at the glovebox hinges or the latch striker? (part of the latch that's mounted to the dashboard)

There should be rubber "bumpers" that cushion the glovebox as it's closed. Are they missing?

Usually you can loosen the screws that hold the striker to the dashboars, & move the striker a bit to make the glovebox close a bit "tighter".

For the glove box rattle, make sure this arm is attached. It hooks on, if it is not, you will get the infamous glove box rattle.

Honda did add new antenna adapters for the various Honda for model years 2004 - 2010 due to poor reception and static. I think your car has the window antenna. Some with different radios had roof antennas. Did you add window tint recently? If it is an aftermarket metallic window tint, it may affect reception. See this Honda bulletin regarding antenna adapters. (Add http:// before link.)

If you can't find the source of the rattle, some weather stripping on the door lip should keep you from going crazy.

If you have a roof antenna, it's probably for satellite-radio or GPS nav system. The RADIO should still use the window antenna.
