So I was driving home earlier today and I hit a bump and it made like a banging noise in the back of the car it didn’t exactly sound like metal on metal it was more of something hitting plastic so I looked under my car and I saw the plastic guard on rear is disconnected and found a rot hole that is in the same spot on both sides. I’m worried my car won’t pass inspection when it runs out and I’m not sure what to do about it. Does anyone know what I should do? And how I can fix it that wouldn’t break the bank? Im afraid I can’t afford it and this is my only car. Car is a 2007 honda accord ex-l 3.0l v6
I can't tell where the hole is at. Can you take a picture from further away to get a feel of what is rotted?
I’ll have to get a photo tomorrow but the best way I can describe it is where the rocker panel and the rear plastic guard connect. There’s nothing there to hold the plastics up anymore causing the plastic to hang down a bit and hit the emergency brake cable when I go over bumps. I wish I knew where the place is called that’s rotted I searched the internet for hours to no avail. The closest I got is the rocker panel reinforcement sill oh and it’s on both sides of the car in the exact same spot.
A picture from under the car and a general idea of outside the car will help. From your description on the driver's side, is this on the lower right side of the rear driver's door or in the general area under the gas cap (and towards the rear bumper)? Or is this on the rear sub-frame?
