2008 4cyl low oil
I was taking a corner hard today and saw the low oil pressure light pop on for just a second while I was in the corner. I got home and checked the oil after about 10-20 minutes and there was literally just a drop on the bottom of the dipstick. I have a service contract with the non Honda dealer I bought it from and the contract is for oil changes every 5000 miles. I has been 4694 since my last change and the oil life is at around 50%. I haven't noticed any oil leaking out either. I also purchased an extended warranty on the drivetrain that is still in effect. Under the section "What is not covered", it mentions low oil as not being covered. My question is, when I take it in and if it is determined I do not have a leak, do I need to hold the dealer responsible for putting too little oil in? Also I know it hasn't been that many miles driven with that low oil in the grand scheme of things but could there be any possible damage caused that won't convieniently show up until after the conteract is expired and if so, is there an easy way to determine that without breaking down the engine? Lastly, since I have to go buy oil to put in the engine, is there any reason the dealership wouldn't reimburse me for it? Sorry to be long winded but I hope I gave enough detail to get some response!!!! Thanks in advance for any help.

In my world, it's up to the owner to check the oil level and fill it with proper oil as needed.
You've found out just now that you should check level and top off well before 4600 miles.
Buy oil, refill. Check every 2000 miles maybe. No biggee.

I agree. In hindsight I should have checked the level after I got it back from the oil change. I guess I assumed this engine doesn't burn through oil. I drove a Jeep for almost 10 years that never needed to be topped off once the oil was changed.
