Default 2008 Honda Accord 2.4L AT

We purchased a 2008 Honda Accord new and it has been using transmission fluid about every 5k miles. Took it to dealer put on lift cannot see no leaks. The odd thing is under drivers side floor mat a pinkish stain appeared in the carpet. Not a spill of no type. It it possible the stain could be from transmission? Dealer said no way, but I`ve had other people say yes way!

Trans lines inside the car....Might look online for diagrams but I have to say there is no reason for trans lines to run "inside" the pass compartment.

I've never heard of ATF lines running inside the car.

I`m not saying transmission lines are run inside pass compartment. I was told that if transmission was leaking on outside it could come up from underneath car. I don`t now I just now the stain is puzzling because my wife is the only one that drives the car and she don`t drink pink drinks.

Is it oily? Is the anti-freeze pink or red (heater core leak)?

Is the transmission leaking outside? Seems like it would have to leak on the ground first before the leak is big enough to get inside.

ATF is getting out somewhere. How much fluid have you added? 1/qt per 5K is huge leak that should be observable if external.

Following are places I could see a leak might happen:

1) Transmission cooler could leak into the radiator fluid, but that lost volume would be noticeable. Have you had to drain some coolant? Any red tinge to coolant?

2) Transmission cooling supply and return lines could leak externally. Check all connections carefully for indications.

3) Transmission atmospheric vent might leak if suction pressure were large (someone directly connected a vacuum line to transmission vent). Engine should be smoking a lot due to consumption of ATF.

4) Transmission body could leak at pan (not sure if there is a pan on this model).

5) Solenoid valve/trans seal leaks. Usually small orings seal these valves to the transmission body. A leak is definitely possible.

6) Transmission hydraulic taps where hydraulic pressures are measured for trans diagnostics. Not sure how many yours may have.

7) Torque Converter-Tranmission oring/s . This should show up as a leak from the bell housing.

I too seriously doubt the stain has anything to do w/ your problem.

good luck
