2009 Accord 3.0 timing belt tensioner install
new to forum. need help with timing belt tensioner installation directions. In particular how to release the pulley tensioner to allow enough room to install the hydraulic tensioner. thanks

Not sure if I'm following correctly....if you have a new tensioner, it should be "pinned", if you are reusing the old one, you will have to compress it and then "pin it" before trying to install it.

No not using old tensioner actuator and no I have not pulled the pin on the new one. I probably did not explain well. So here goes..... when the old tensioner actuator was removed the belt pulley that has the mating leg that the actuator pin contacts has now rotated downward in the direction of the actuator. So once I insert the new actuator into its location and attempt to line up the bolt holes to install that part the belt pulley is in the way and obviously spring loaded. I am trying to determine how to rotate the pulley enough to get the actuator bolted into place and release the pulley against the pin. does this make sense?
Thanks

You should be able to push the tensioner pulley/arm up with your hand and install the hydraulic tensioner with the pin installed. Once the belt is properly lined-up, then you can release the pin to set the tension.
