2014 accord. Brake lights or fake lights

Are the brake lights on the trunk lid of my 2014 accord actually lights or just for show?

What is the trim level of your Accord (e.g., Touring, EX-L, Sports, etc.)?

trim is EX-L. no bulbs, they are LED. The manual says that you have to replace entire assembly
