Brand new Accord LX 2.4L 4-cylinder under 1k miles. When AC is off car drives good.

Turn on the AC and rpm's randomly drop to near zero.

Sometimes when going through an intersection it will lose power and not accelerate while cars are approaching making me keep it in driveway to avoid death.

So bummed to buy a brand new car like this.

Honda won't give me a free loaner to drive while they fix it and shop is very far from me so I get to rent a car while my new ride sits at Honda.

Anyone experience this?

I am able to duplicate it in park with AC on and holding pedal steady at 2000 rpms. It will dip down then go back to 2000 without moving pedal.

 

Is your check engine light ON? I can't imagine those symptoms not setting a code.
My first guess would be the PCM is not seeing the A/C request signal and compensating for the additional load on the engine.

 

I spoke too soon. I just tried a long ride without the AC and the car would not accelerate and then quickly sped up but could have been disastrous.

No the engine light is not on

As you likely are aware, your vehicle's warranty is valid at any authorized Honda dealership and often another dealership is happy to do the work as they are paid from Honda to accommodate

The 'loaner car' policy can vary by dealership, many will not supply a loaner unless it is covered by a clause in an extended warranty... Extended warranties are actually nothing more than an insurance policy to cover additional costs

Also, some car insurance policies will cover a loner vehicle under certain conditions

Then, of course, you may want to consider investigating the 'lemon laws' in your State

 

I called the free road side assistance and they are picking it up and towing to dealer. We will be with one car for a while I assume. I have little faith in my local dealer to figure it out. The 2009 Chevy HHR I sold to buy this was running perfectly and it was paid off. grrr, stupid me.

I had an extended warrantee (Ford) on my ex-Fiesta. When they had it over night, I'd get a rental, otherwise they would pick me up and come get me from home.

One problem doesn't make a bad car. Hopefully it will take only one trip to fix. I made at least 30 trips to my Ford dealer in four years!

My Accord count is up to Zero!
