35 cut-out
Hi everybody! Yes, I'm new. And, yes, the first thing I'm posting is a call for help. Of course if you all help me fig'r this out, then I'll be back on here lots as a "giver" as well-- so here's the deal:
I actually don't even own a Honda yet, but I'm looking at buying one for sale here. It's an '87 Accord; 5 spd; carbed. Of course it's pretty high mileage, but the thing starts and runs beautifully. No smoke (blue, black, or white...); good power throughout the RPM's
All's good w/ the car except: it won't go over 35 mph. At 35, it hits a wall. Total loss of power. The car won't full out die, but it just goes limp untill I take my foot off the gas and let it slow down. I'd like to think it's a fuel delivery problem, but strangely, the problem doesn't seem to be tied to the RPM's or which gear you're in.
I donno. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

RE: 35 cut-out
personally i would reccomend NOT TO BUY a carburated car .. ( pita....)
first thing i would do is to chk the fuel filters,, 1 by the tank left rear, 1 in engine compart left side to the carb fuel inlet hose..
any kind of maintenance been done to the car ?? your issue could be a # of things.. cam timing off ?? low engine vaccum?? plugged ( partially ) plugged exh system.. carb issues . fuel pump, secondary system issues ,. is clutch operation ok ( slip ) ??
Does it rev up normally at idle ???
you should have the car checked out before you decide to buy it ..
