5th gen Vs 6th gen auto tranny

RE: 5th gen Vs 6th gen auto tranny
From what I know, there was a class action suit against Honda about the 1999-2001 Automatic Transmissions. They lost and had to fix all of them for free. There havebeen a lot of complaints about the 2002 (also 6th gen) ATs as well, but Honda has been mostly refusing to fix them on the 02s unless you are under warranty. Personally, my AT is performing absolutely fine, just had it checked at the dealer actually. My car is up to 101k miles now, and the tranny fluid has yet to be changed.

there is no recall, there is a warranty extension for the 00-01 cars 98,99 and 02 cars areconsidered as goodwill only and you should have all of the maint records for the car.
details of the settlement can be found here

main page for VIN validation is here
http://www.hondatransmissionsettlement.com
warranty is 93 months or 109K miles from "In Service" date (the date the car was actually delivered and the original owner drove it home)
transmissions in ALL of the 98-07 accords suck but the ones in the 98-02 cars are by far the worst offenders. the 03-07 cars use the same basic 5AT that the TL/CL use and suffer from the same problems and require the same fixes...
