Default 6th gen accord fuel filter?

my friend has a 99 accord sedan and he wants to get the fuel filter changed. we called the dealership and they said that those arent stocked because only 97 and older accords change fuel filters.

I've learned recently that 6th gen accords do not have fuel filters. They have a screen at the fuel pump that will very rarely get clogged.

it doesnt make sense if though. any type of screen/filter will get clogged eventually...
unless the screen lets a LOT of dirt and stuff through, then i will probablly last the life of the car.
same as an air filter.

true, but gas is already filtered...... I've thought about cleaning it, but without a reason other than maintenance, I don't really see the point.

unless your fuel pressure is low, i've never seen/heard of it causing a problem. everytime i remove a fuel pump with this type of system it's never even dirty. the tank is unusually clean.
