Default 6th gen transmission

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know these trannys suck but what can I do if anything to prolong its life. Its got 98k miles on it, auto, 2.3L and so far so good. Is it best to just change the ATF often? Also, is there a good source for info regarding extended warranty's or recalls for my VIN?

There are no recalls, and i believe you are over the mileage for extended warrenty, so only thing you can do is pray and treat her nicely.

Update: Ran the Vin number on the Honda website and found that the auto. transmission recall concerning the "parking pawl actuation lever" was fixed. Is this related to the transmission failures that plague this car or does this have nothing to do with it?

I'm not positive what that recall is, but they never issued a recall for transmission failure so i'm going to guess it doesnt have to do with that. And even if the transmission was replaced, there is nothing to say it wouldnt blow again.

web search 'ahm-ownerlink' I can't make the link post here.

But you enter your V I N and can get all the info you want.

Isuggest that you change the trans fluid with Honda ATF Z-1 every 30k miles

That was going to be my next question so thanks Dude. Are these failures a result of the proverbial "no-filter honda transmission design" thus the need to change the fluid often or is it a quality control issue?
