'87 Accord Idle Speed Too High
I recently acquired an '87 Accord, I found it in a junkyard and thought it was too nice to go to the crusher. So I took a gamble on it and bought it as-is, with no idea as to what it needed other than some obvious body work. Once I had it home, I installed a good battery and put in some gas, and it started right up. To my relief, the engine appeared to run OK, did not seem to be burning oil, and I was even able to drive it around the yard until the rusty brake lines popped. Right now I'm concentrating on body work, since that will require the most effort. But I've also noticed an engine problem, and before I try to tackle it I thought it wouldn't hurt to get some advice. When started, the engine fast idles at around 1000 rpm. Pressing and releasing the accelerator does not reduce the idle speed as it should, and in fact the idle speed slowly keeps climbing to over 3000 rpm. My knowledge of carburetors is fairly limited, so I'm not sure what to look for. I did notice that some of the hoses to the cruise control actuator appear to be missing - perhaps removed while the car was sitting in the junkyard. Could this have something to do with it?
I also noticed a couple of vacuum hoses off the carb that go nowhere but have been plugged, as well as an oxygen sensor that is disconnected and does not appear to hook up anywhere. There's other evidence that suggests previously-repaired front end damage - the hood, radiator, and even the engine itself do not appear to be original.
At this point I'm not sure what I've gotten myself into, but fortunately there's another identical car at the junkyard from which I can get any parts I need.
Thanks for any advice.

The spooner link I posted in the online manuals thread in the DIY section has a shop manual that covers 86-89 accords.
Download that and get the vacuum hoses routed properly. On original hoods, there was a sticker under the hood showing the vacuum hose routing.

I could, maybe, e-mail the manual. It's large so I'd have to figure out how to split it to smaller pices.
If you are lucky, from the factory the hoses and the connectors are numbered or were.
Last, I've got an 87 LX-manual and an 89 LX-auto (the 88 is an LXI FI Auto). Pic's or detail questions and I might be able to help.
