87 Accord stuck in gear
Hello everyone, my first post.
I have an 87 Accord which has been my baby for a long time. Just went past the 300,000 mark. I've changed the tranny fluid several times over the years. The other day leaving work, when I shifted to second, the shifter locked up on me. But now it is seems to be locked in 3rd or 4th, can't tell. Had to haul it home. Couldn't see a problem with shifter or linkage. Pulled the transmission last weekend. I have the Honda shop manual, so following the directions I pulled the tranny apart. It was super clean inside. I thought the shift linkage mechanism would be the problem. But I cannot see anything bent or stuck. I took the shift linkage out and looked it over, put it back in and you still cannot shift. Does this mean a sync. is stuck or maybe I just don't know what I'm looking at on the linkage. I really didn't want to remove the gears from the shafts, but nothing to loose at this point. Has anyone had this experience to point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

Assuming it is a manual, you can try disconnecting the linkage at the transmission and try running the transmission through the gears by hand. If it does then it sounds like it would be a problem with the linkage it's self. If you suspect it is a synchro, if you get it freed up you may want to drain the fluid and fill it with one quart of BG Synchroshift II and one quart 5w30.

Finally figured out that 4th gear had locked up on shaft. Can anyone tell me a good place to order parts? I'm in the middle of nowhere, so will need to order from someone's website or phone. Probably good to go through a Honda dealer I'm sure.
There site says (Not Available) on a coupld of parts I need.
