Default 1994 accord 5 speed stuck in 4th gear

Just got this accord and the trans is stuck in 4th gear. The shifter can be moved up and sideways but Its still in 4th. Would this be the linkage Or something on the inside. Really at a losa on this one. Thanks for any input on this. Normally Its just the clutch but thats fine

Take a look where the two cables from the shifter connect to the transmission. Verify the each moves when someone switches gears inside the car.

They dont move. The shifter does really switch gears. It sits in 4th but comes out real easy

Kind of confused on the answer.....next I would pull the part around the shifter and have a look at that end of the cables to be sure everything is attached.

So the shifter moves freely but the transmission does not shift gear, nor do the cables move at the transmission? Sounds like the cables are bad to me.

Im gonna pull the shifter tomorrow Or this weekend hope Its an East fix.

The shifter (while driving) I could move it up like into 3rd amd also side to side like neutral. But the trans itself is still in 4th. I was driving it and was slowing down and it just wouldnt come out If gear.

I was able.to free up the shifter. I took off the cables and put some vice grips on the shifter sticking out of the trans. The trans is still in 4th gear. After putting It all back together It fells like Its goes into 2, 4, and rev. Should I try and change the fluid Or just pull the trans

I pulled the plug to drain the fluid and there was none. Its bone dry. Should I put new fluid in It and see if it will shift right Or just replace It

Worth a try to see if it fixes it. Worst case you are out $40 bucks or whatever ATF costs.

put 10w-30 dino oil in it. probably $15. give it a whirl.

I've a '92 5spd and use 10W-30 dino or Pennzoil Synchromesh
(can't recall which at the last change)

luck.
