Default 90 honda accord code 9 help please.

Ok I stalled on the highway and checked the spark plugs to find they were covered in oil. All the way to the top.. So I had it towed and did the following..

Changed the
Spark plugs
wires
did a valve cover gasket job.
cleaned the spark plug holes of the oil.

It started up and ran very good. If I hit the gas too hard it would spin the tires which never happen since I bought the car.

On the way home it was dropping a cylinder and shaking a little. I then noticed once of the gaskets on the first tube must of fell out when I installed the cover. So oil was in that spark plug. So next day I fixed it all and put it all together. Would not start.

Looked online and seen it could be the coil. So I bought a new coil and a rotor and cap. Replaced those and she fired right up and ran really good again BUT this time the check engine light would come on and stay on after about a min of driving.

I read the code and it is code 9.

What should I do now?
All new is
valve cover gaskets
spark plugs
wires
cap
rotor
coil
pvc

When driving now in the morning it runs good it seems. Second time I start the car it runs ok then drops a cylinder(s) random.

When you replaced the valvecover gasket, is it possible you got the round sparkplug-tube seals upside down? Do they leak at all?

There's a 2nd set of seals farther down in the tubes. You have to remove the rockers & cam-bearing caps for that. Make sure you really need it.

If your new sparkplugs have run when the tubeseals were leaking oil down onto them, then try another new set of plugs. They might have shorted & now are ruined??

Also, the code 9 is a fault for the cylinder 1 position sensor in the distributor. Check that the connections to the distributor are tight. Also check for corrosion on any of the pins and clean them.

If you remove the distributor cap, is there any oil inside the distributor, or is there are red dust all over the place?

When I installed the gasket the first time one fell off and was on one of the bolt towers. So it did leak into the first spark plug well towards the pasenger side but I cleaned it off when I reinstalled the gasket correctly. I also changed the spark plug wire in that well and also wiped the spark plug off. There is no oil leaking into the wells now at all. They are very clean now.

I am not sure. I took pics when I changed the coil. I will take a look and report back. Funny I didn't have this error code before I changed the coil and cap and rotor.

On a side note is the wire that bolts onto the valve cover important? I lost that bolt so I believe that ground is not connected. Could this cause the problem?

That ground wire is probably redundant with others. Still, try to clamp it to ground the engine just to make sure.
