What happened exactly with the test light test?

Is there anything I could have done while replacing the clutch that would cause the car to not start. Maybe a connection I overlooked or missed? I cant help thinking that it would be a mighty big coincidence that it stopped starting right after the clutch job

I was not able to get a test light. I did try sticking a spark plug wire with spark plug on the coil with the coil still hooked up and got no spark out of it. Is there another way to do the test light test without a test light?

The ground that you checked is about the only thing that I could think of that would cause a starting problem.

The test light is the easiest thing that I can think of to test the ICM. I think that O'Reillys can test the ICM for you as well if there is one in your area.

I'm assuming if the icm is working pr
operly the test light will flash as us it were the coil? Would it do. Nothing if it were a has icm?

If the test light flashes, then your coil has to be the problem.

If the test light does not flash, then it is either the ICM or the ECU.

i dont know if it matters or not but i did notice the crank sensor inside the distributor is cracked. possibly not working? would it keep the car from firing? how do i test to make sure it works without getting the ecu test harness? i have downloaded a manuel that explains a way to test it, but only with an ecu test harness? any advice?

A bad sensor should throw an ecu code. Short that connector and count the check engine light flashes like I mentioned earlier. Tell us what code you find.
