Default 91 Accord CEL- need help

Hey, I have a 91 Accord LX and my check engine light came on 2 days ago, I can't rev past 3500rpms. I jumped the service connector and got the flashes, I'm hoping someone on here can tell me the code as I'm a bit confused. It does 1 long flash, 5 short flashes, pause, 8 short flashes. I think it might be 2 separate codes but I'm not sure. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks for taking a look!

Make sure the long flash and 5 short flashes are separated by short (< 1 sec) pause, otherwise you have codes 10 and 5 not code 15. A long (3-5 secs) pause separates sequential codes. System repeats after 3 presentations.

Assuming you're right, I would first reset the ECU by pulling BackUp Fuse (7.5A) in underhood fuse box for 20 secs to reset ECU. Drive and see if codes return.

Code 15 is Ignition output signal missing and could be result of Code 8, distributor TDC position signal fault. Code 8 means bad Top Dead Center (TDC) sensor in the distributor, faulty distributor connector, or faulty wiring (open or short) on the TDC circuit. If same codes return, I would try to fix Code 8 first, as this might resolve the code 15.

A download shop manual will help and is available from Online Manuals links in the DIY forum. This has all diagnostics and checks for Code 8 and Code 15.

good luck

Hey, I appreciate the help, I reset the ECU , then drove it around the block, it seems fine now but if the CEL comes on again I'll check the codes to see if there the same. Thanks again I greatly appreciate your reply TexasHonda!

Both code 8 & code 15 can possibly be caused by a loose/dirty/corroded wiring connector at the distributor. Check that out.

Thanks JimBlake for your reply, I drove it today, and got only a code 8, I'm thinking it's only just a wiring issue as you say it could be because I just drove her around the block and my CEL was off and no problems..so hopefully a wiring issue is all. I'll keep ya posted. Thanks again!
