When you jumped the leads to thermoswitch A, did only the radiator fan (passenger side) fan turn on? Or did the condenser fan turn on too?

Just the radiator fan. And in case I've got them mixed up, the one closest to to the battery or right hand/passenger side of the car.

Put 12v to the cond fan (left drivers side) motor - does it spin?

Yes, the cond fan works. I kind of hijacked my own post, back one page is a list of the stuff I've done to this point in case you havent' seen it.
Thanks everyone.

The ECU code 6 means the engine coolant temperature sensor or the wiring is not sending a reading to the engine computer. Or the reading is way out of range. This reading is used to adjust the air/fuel ratio and that is it.

The gauge in the car tells you the coolant temperature. What really controls the coolant temperature when the engine is running is the thermostat and the coolant temperature switch A. The thermostat closes to heat the coolant. Temperature switch A turns on the fans to cool the coolant.

If the gauge in the dash has the normal reading, then your cooling system is ok. I have never been able to see coolant flow from the radiator on my car.

To me, this sounds like a problem with the ECU or the TCU.

Thanks PAhonda. That's helpful

Is trouble shooting the ECU or TCU doable for a home mechanic or is an ECU test harness like I see in the manual I downloaded kind of necessary?

I think that you can do the tests without the test harness. Some tests you can do on the unplugged wire harness, and some tests you will have to back-probe the connector.

Make sure that none of the pins are loose. Especially the wires/pins that deal with the ECT sensor while you are in there.
