Help Please - Presently in the process of changing out the timing belts and replacing the water pump - this post has been extremely helpful - HOWEVER
QUESTION - Does the timing belt tensioner (inner one against the block) need to have a bolt in the outer metal flange that rests against the block??
I do not believe there was one there when I removed the tensioner (could be wrong but I don't remember any and don't have any extra bolts). Looks like the bolt(if needed)would have to be a shouldered bolt which would allow the flange to move when the tensioner lock nut was loosened.

No, there is no bolt that goes in that position ....... permanently, that is.
That provision was put there so that when you are putting things together you can temporarily put a bolt in there to hold things in place. Once things are all in place, remove that particular bolt you mentioned.
Edit:
I assume you are talking about the slotted bracket on the INNER tensioner being pointed to by the aqua-colored arrow, correct?

Which balance shaft? The front one (on the left of the picture in post #33) has marks as shown in that picture. The rear balance shaft is supposed to be locked into position with a bolt or drift-pin or something like that, through a hole in the back of the block.
Your 1996 will have a couple sensors at the crankshaft (CKP, TDC) because it's got the OBD-2 collection of engine controls.
Also... Beginning in maybe 1994 or so, the spark timing & TDC marks are at the front pulley, NOT at the flywheel.

I have a 99 accord lx with a four cylinder (my first honda after several toyotas). Is the procedure (exactly) the same/directly applicable from this 92 accord lx thread ?
Also, I don't see any mention of reinstalling the crankshaft pulley bolt.....is acre in not allowing the cranckshaft to rotate clockwise required? How does one hold that pulley still wile torquing the bolt clockwise (and what is the proper torque)?
Thank you...!!

99 should be about the same, except maybe for fastener sizes.
Yes, hold the crankshaft so it doesn't turn clockwise when you tighten the bolt. Torque is pretty high, but I don't remember the number. Maybe 120 ft*lb?
