Default '92 Accord LX trailer wiring question

Hello,
Am installing a trailer hitch on my 1992 Accord LX, would like to ask if a special wiring kit is needed, or can I just splice wires in to taillight wiring to make connection to a 4-wire trailer connector?
Some kits are available from where I'm getting hitch (O'reilly Auto - $26) and E-trailer.com ($66), just wondering if they are really needed.
Thanks,
Ron

You can probably get away with splicing in. The connector may make any electrical troubleshooting easier.

My 93 accord has trailer wiring connection already installed, your might also. Its located on the drivers side wiring harness in the trunk that is heading from the trunk lid to the rear lights. Its a taped up tight and has a 6 prong connection. If you can find the correct harness, you wont have to splice just plug it in.

I found the connector you mentioned, it was even described in owners manual. Bought taillight converter ($26 at Advance Auto) and installed - works great!

Thanks for the info, would not have known about connector otherwise!
