Default 92 Accord Transmission issue

I found this on here and it never got a solution. My car is doing the exact same thing. To save myself some typing Ive copied and pasted it.
I have a 1992 Accord 4 cyclinder with auto transmission in it. While leaving for work this morning i started the car and itr ran as normal, about a mile or two from the house, i noticed the D4 light went out, and then transmission felt like it either went out of gear or sslipped to 3rd. The light then came back on and the car went back to fourth gear. I got up the road to the stoplight, and came to a complete stop, and when the light turned green i started and it felt like the car was stuck in2nd gear. i was doing 55mph at 3500 rpm.So i turned around and came back home, i noticed that if i manually shifted the transmission, it started out fine in first gear and good in second, but it would not engage in 3-4th gear. I noticed that when i put the car into park, that the D4 light stayed lighted up as well as the red park light.
I had the transmission flushed and it ran fine for a few months but now its back to this same issue.
Any suggestion on where to look would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

First step is to see if any codes are stored. This could be a faulty TCU or possibly a faulty shift position switch, however a code should be set for a faulty shift switch. See DIY forum for procedure to extract codes.

good luck

Went to the DIY forum and I gotta say that is a lot of info to sift through to find what I am looking for. Went through several pages and didn't find how to get the codes. Seems like a needle in a hay stack. Is there an easier way to find it or can someone just tell me how to get the codes?

The common DIY thread on top of the gen tech help forum has a link to checking engine codes. That is the same procedure as checking transmission codes.

I must be blind or just not smart enough to find the 2 pin connector. I've looked several times. Where the heck is it?

it is down by the passenger's feet behind the glovebox closest to the passenger door. if it's never been pulled out of there then it probably has a "cover" over the end of it. i also have a 92 and it is there. i can take a pic of what it looks like pulled out if you want.

I believe I found it. I used a paper clip to jump both pins an then turned the ignition on but didn't get any codes. I tried it with the ignition on the first and 2nd settings too and still nothing. I'm obviously not doing it right. I'm no mechanic. Or techie. But hopefully I will figure it out soon. You have been the most help Honda_Lady and I really appreciate it. Thank you.

Did the CEL come on and stay on?...the key shuld be "on"/pos II - where it would be when the car is running....pic's of the connector you are jumping.
