Default HELP please! Air conditioning issue on 2005-AC issue - Please and thanks!

Hi, I know I'm new here, but am about to get my first Accord tomorrow!!

It's an 05 LX 4cyl.

My issue is that the ac does not work, it just blows warm...

The owner said that he took it to Honda, and they said it's the ac clutch...

To my knowledge you cannot buy just the clutch can you?

It almost leads me to believe that it may be a story... Ya never know...

Either way, I wanted to come on here to pick your guys' brains about this..

I seached but didn't find anything...

Are there any prevelant issues or know problems with this ac system?

I'd love to buy this car, but I want tp make sure I'm not getting into any big costs here...

Someone PLEASE turn me in the right direction, give me ideas, and steps I can take.

Please help soon, as I really need to find out this weekend.

I REALLY appreciate your time. Have a great weekend!

Is your Accord full on Freon and have power to the AC clutch? I don’t know of any common problems with the AC system. When I wanted to buy a replacement compressor for my 2003 from Honda I had to buy the Clutch and Compressor separate. As the AC unit was a Denso I just got a new one from a part store, about three hundred for the Denso unit. It is the same as what I took off. On my Accord the compressor was seizing up, but had sat for a year and had lost most of the oil that was suppose to be in the compressor. I have read of a few people who have had compressors seizing up and the belt slipping which is what mine did, but was low on oil. As there is just one belt I didn’t want to risk failure on the road and didn’t try to fix the old one. I also replaced the dryer bottle which I felt was harder than changing the compressor.

I am guessing an LX doesn’t have climate control as there are a number of AC post related to that part of the system.

you can buy just the clutch by itself..

but ,,,my advice is to either ask the owner to fix it for you before you buy the car
or deduct at least 500-600 dollars from asking price

or,, MY BEST advise,,, have car checked out before you buy it .. it will cost you 70-90 dollars, ask for a buyer's inspection, take car to dealer or a shop that specializes on Hondas
