'93 Accord SE - Reprogram Keyless Remote

Default '93 Accord SE - Reprogram Keyless Remote

Battery wore out on the keyless remote. Put a new one in it and, of course, the programming is lost. After googling and searching here, I found a procedure that involved unlocking the doors, turning the ignition "on", pressing the remote button, turning the ignition "off" and repeating 2 more times at which point the locks are supposed to cycle to indicate that the system is ready to be programmed.

I went through this process, but the locks never cycled. I waited 10 minutes and tried it again but with the same result - nothing. When I read these instructions, they were written about a later model Accord. I don't know if they apply to a '93.

My remote is the old variety that has a single activator button. The remote is square and the single activator button is square - if any of that helps.

I would greatly appreciate any pointers. Did I fail to follow the instructions correctly? Are there other instructions for the '93 SE? The Accord has a factory installed alarm/remote key entry.

I think that procedure is for newer accords.

I would take a look in the owner's manual to see if there is a reprogramming procedure in there.

That procedure should be in the Helm repair manual. Look in the DIY section for a thread about 'on-line manuals' or something like that.
