Default 93 Accord Station Wagon - Engine dies/drops out

Aloha all,

I'm starting my research regarding a trouble shooting job I am doing. This 93 Accord will start and then and what seems random instances, the engine drops out, gauges all seem to die as if engine isn't wanting to run (like if the key was in run but not pushed to start position). This seems like some kind of electrical or fuel system failure but I don't know where to begin. I thought I'd check in here and see if there some "common" problem that describes this intermittent nature.

When the engine is running, it runs smooth and well, power is good. However, while idling or driving along, the engine will just decide it wants to die out.

Any suggstions? Thanks in advance.

aloha,
g

Sounds like the ignition switch. Search using finch13's signature link.

The electrical portion of the ignition switch is a likely culprit. You can try to verify by jiggling the keys a bit when the car is running. If the car stalls, then that is the likely source of your problem.

Check that all ends of the battery cables are clean and secure. Are the spark plugs, dist. cap, and rotor due for a change?
