Default '94 Accord-1st gear

Hi all,

I have 1994 Honda Accord EX, manual transmission. I did not use it for past one month as I was out of country. When I drove it last nite, it seems to work well, except it is a little tough to put it in 1st gear. Requires a bit more effort than usual. Any guesses why? Also, is there anything specific I am required to do in regards to maintenance such as getting an oil change or nything like that, since I did not use it at all for one month and the weather has changed now?

Thanks in advance

AG

the only thing to check as the weather gets cold is to make sure that the coolant is rated for that low of a temperature.... otherwise just standard maintence, oil change ever 3000 miles or 6 months etc....

also on first gear it should ease up a little more with some use.... honda's are known for first gear being "finikey" at times.... when I come to a stop I usually push it down into second first then up into first...

i am thinking he meant the fluid in the clutch master cylinder,, to chk it just remove the cap and see how full the reservoir is,, if it is low , there is a leak in the system

if he meant tranny fluid, just remove the upper plug , 17 mm above the rt axle and oil should drip out.also make sure that there is NOT 90w gear oil in tranny , honda tranny take motor oil

Yeah...mine has done this since I have owned my Honda (94 Accord LX)...First gear just gives me headaches. Sometimes hitting second before first makes it glide in a little more smoothley, but it is really embarrassing when I am sitting in neutral at a stop, and the light changes, and there I am fishing for first!!! LOL There has to be a way to make this go away! Otherwise my car runs fine.

peace out,
daddy
