94 accord lx hot start problem-new fuel pump and relay
It started off not starting if i'd turn it off to run in a store for a couple minutes, and then i'd have to wait 10 minutes or so before it would start. Then it got to the point it wouldn't start at all in the afternoon once the temp outside started to rise(about 80-85 degrees or more) so i hunted around online and found that it was probably the fuel pump or relay. I replaced those two, and now instead of just turning over continuously it tries to start for just a second and then nothing but turning over again. It does this every time i turn the key off then try to start again.
I haven't replaced the fuel filter yet, but it's only about a year old. Not sure if that's a reasonable amount of time that it could need replacing again.
Also, after replacing the fuel pump the fuel gauge now reads as far on E as it will go(has close to 1/2 a tank of gas). Honestly I could live with the gauge not working if I just get back and forth to work for now, but not sure if that could part of a bigger problem. Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Start with the basics. Turn the key to the II position, but do not try to start the car. When the check engine light turns on to do the bulb check, the fuel pump should turn for about two seconds. It is a faint buzzing/whirling sound from the back seat, so turn off the radio, blower, etc.. and listen carefully.
Let us know if you hear this sound.
Also, what was the part number of the relay you replaced?

Not sure of the part number, but it was under the dash. It was about a 2"x1" brown box inside a gray plastic "holder". Where would I find the part number. I have the part number from O'reilly's-2JR30. Not sure if that helps.
Stupidly I've replace these parts in reverse logical order. I was sure it was the pump so dropped the tank. Didn't fix it so swapped the relay, and now I think I'm at the point where I'm going to fix the cheapest part-the filter. Why didn't I start with the easy stuff???

There is a ground near the back seat in the trunk that you might want to disconnect and clean the bolt and eyelet with a wire brush or some sandpaper.
There is also a three-pin connector right there. If you unplug that connector, use a volt meter or a test light to see if you are getting 12V to that electrical connector.
If you are not hearing the fuel pump for those two seconds, then the fuel filter is not your problem.

Same issue here!
I'm having the same problem too. Had the fuel pump changed, then the relay. All seemed to work well until the next week. Now, i have to turn the key to the second position and wait about 30 seconds before I hear the pump kick on and the check engine light to go off before "she" starts up.
Have you had any luck in getting your issue resolved? I'm looking at taking my to a Honda specialist next week... I was hoping that it would be a fix that I could fix myself, but it doesn't look like that is going to be the case.
Thanks, Jon

JTD82 - it sounds like you have a problem with the ECU. The ECU turns off the check engine light and sends a signal to the main relay to turn on the fuel pump. You may want to check for loose pins at the ECU wiring harness first.
