Default 94 Accord LX: Surging idle

A couple of years back I had a problem with the idle. It would surge between 1,000 and 1,500 RPM. Vroom. Vroom.

I changed the plugs, distributor cap, and rotor and the problem vanished.

Almost two years to the day, the problem is back again. Vroom! Vroom!

I'm pretty sure that the plugs and distributor cap haven't gone bad in 25,000 miles considering the last ones were in for 70,000.

Any ideas?

Of course the weather is perfect for working on cars outside. :-(

Low coolant or a dirty IACV would be where I would start.

If coolant, where did it go, be sure to bleed the air out.

my '93 does that in spades during warm up only though.
1700 - 2300 rpms, lasts about a minute.

look forward to analysis and your solution.

Also look in the DIY section for a post by me about setting the BASE idle. Honda idle-control system is kinda touchy about how it's adjusted.

Had a chance today to go and see what the coolant is like. Radiator is full to the brim. Opened the bleed valve and coolant came right out.

I guess now I need to look at how to clean the idle control valve.

In the "Common DIY Threads" sticky at the top of this section is a "how to" clean the IAC, might as well inspect the FITV and then follow Jim's "Base idle" write up.
