94 accord lx won’t start but will stall
Hey my 94 accord (2.2L automatic) I bought about a week ago for $2300 it’s got 144K miles on it. There were a few issues like day 1 of driving it needed to have the battery charged to get home from the store and then it shut off completely while it was being driven then pulled it over and had it towed back to lot I got it from, went to him the next morning and when we started it up the alternator popped then smoked and guy rebuilt it for me and it was fine for a few days, now these are about to be a couple issues in about to list and I don’t have much car knowledge honestly first car I’ve gotten where I plan on doing all the work to it myself, but the things I’ve noticed it do is 1.) revs from about 800 rpm to 1,300 while in park or neutral but doesn’t while in drive 2.) it died on me once while driving and pulled it over then waited a minute or two and cranked right back up np,3.) but since that while I was driving I’ve noticed the rpm would sometimes seem like it’s going to go down to zero when I came to a complete stop so tried to avoid doing that, then I went to my uncles and when I went to leave the car wouldn’t start, it will crank and keep trying to crank but just won’t start, so ik it’s not the started I got a little checklist of stuff I’m going to look thru tomorrow, the car does have a slight oil leak not 100% sure where from I changed out oil and filter when I got it (ik it’s irrelevant but little extra info) I saw a similar forum question and the distributor solved the issue for them so I was going to try that tomorrow and was going to make sure my spark plugs aren’t clogged with oil as well just wanted to know if this didn’t work what else to try I’m off all day tomorrow and don’t plan to stop on this car till I get it working since I need it for work
Air in the cooling system can mess up the idle
When the engine is cold, remove the radiator cap and top of the radiator with coolant. There is a bleeder on the thermostat housing that helps bleed air from the system.
