94 Honda accord randomly dies. HELP!!
I bought an auto 94 Honda accord. It has 108k miles on it. The car idles low at about 500. While I am on my way home from work and stuck in traffic or stuck at a stop light it will die out. I've taken it to a mechanic and had them try to make the issue happen again but they couldn't reenact it so they can only suggest to do a full tune up on the car. (spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, & oil change.) Please I am a complete idiot when it comes to cars so I would just like some suggestions to give to the mechanic because he just keeps telling me they can't find anything wrong with it.

Pay attention to the marks on the tachometer. The first mark past zero is 500 rpm (not 250 rpm), and the next mark is 750.
I would start by checking for engine codes. See the link in the common diy thread on top of the gen tech help forum for how to check for engine codes. Post any codes you find on here.
Replacing maintenance items is a good place to start, because they can wear out and cause problems. Use the NGK ZFR5F-11 spark plugs. Most parts stores carry them. Hondas have some problems with other spark plugs. I would also suggest a honda distributor cap and distributor rotor. They may be a bit more expensive, but last a long time.
