I have a 94 LX with 97k miles on it, and its failing the CO and NOx tests. The car drove 500miles from NY to OH, then sat for 8months. During the trip, I noticed it was idleing wierd. A couple weeks ago I took it out and it stalled once after coming to a stop. Replaced spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, valve cover gasket, oil, oil filter, air filter looked new, antifreeze, and pcv valve.

Pured a bottle of injector cleaner in, and drove about 1/3 tank so far. I havent seen the CEL come on once, at any time. The mufler did fall off (pipe rusted through), and I reattachted it with a soup can and one of those $1 bandages at autozone.

Im thinking the CO test is failing cause of the exhaust and the NOx test fails from the EGR ports or valve. Anything else I should be looking at?

 

Sounds about right. Clean the EGR ports to correct the NOx. I am guessing that the CO levels are a result of the EGR ports too.

 

Call me ignorant, but uhm how come there arent any emmisions test in Florida ?
