Default 99 LX sedan passenger lock sometimes fails to unlock

I wish this problem was more consistent but it isn't. The best way I can describe the issue is the passenger lock acts lazy intermittently and refuses to unlock.

I can see it also struggle to lock as well.

Does anyone know what these symptoms indicate? And a solution to it.

Mine too only during the Winter!
I am thinking that it is due to the old battery putting out lower amperage during the cold weather. I will be replacing the battery in the next couple of weeks, I will re-post the results.

Mine isn't a battery issue as I have a new Yellow Top and a new high current alternator.

Somedays it happens more frequently than others. Would appreciate any theories as to what could be causing this.

Using the key externally by hand the same lock that refuses to unlock with the fob or button inside the car work perfectly fine.

You can pull the door panel and test it - yes it will be a "good day" and everything will work.

While there, inspect the linkage. Look for anything that might be binding or sticking.

That's already been done. Linkage is fine.

Your description sounds more like a problem with the passenger door actuator.

Here is a link on repairing the actuator. It is for the 94-97 accord. You may not be able to open up the actuator on the 98-02. If you decide to give this a shot, let us know how it turns out, because this can help other 98-02 owners save some money by not having to buy a new actuator.

Good luck.
