My seat belt only retracts halfway and often gets in the way of closing the door or gets in the way of rear passengers trying to exit the car. I have tried to pull the entire seat belt out and see if it would dislodge or unlock something in the mechanism but same result.

Is there an easy fix like spraying WD40 in there or do I have to remove the trim to get access to the mechanism? And if I have to do the latter, can somebody explain how? I tried finding a diagram for it but found nothing and the only tutorials are for rear seat belts.

also clean the upper guide. They get dirty and will restrict the belt from retracting.
