95 Accord - Cracked Block/Something Else?
So, I bought my sister's older 95 Honda Accord from her, and my brother in law/her gave me little notes on issues with it.
One thing was to check the fluids weekly. One week they'd be fine, whereas the next they'd be empty so to kep my eyes on them. (Water/oil) which I HAVE. Last Fri night something starts smelling and it starts losing power and then I convenientyl pull off at my destination, like it happened that fast, gage didn't read that it was overheating, then when I parked it it cut off, and then smoke came out from under the hood. Pop open the hood and smoke just keeps coming out. Anyways, then my fluids were checked. Oil was bone dry, no water, etc. how lucky me. The fluids had been checked the week before adn were FINE. Anyways, my friend towed it to a trustful mechanic who says the block is cracked. yay I've had it for 1 month adn I ruin it and my brother in law has had it years and no engine problems? What's going on? Is there any other solution than a new engine and stuff?
What causes this?

The coolant and oil had to either be leaking or burning.
My guess is that you had a bad head gasket originally. Likely had engine damage due to oil loss and possible overheating.
Used engines for your accord are not too expensive. You should check out car-part.com to search junkyards for matching engines. You can sort by distance or price.
I don't know what a shop would charge you to install the engine.
