Also, if I determine that's the case, can I grab a used ECM from a salvage yard or would you suggest buying new? Plug and play or will it need to be programmed somehow?

Tested resistance of the ECM side of the connector and i'm getting nothing. If I should suspect a wiring or connector fault, how would you suggest I fix the problem? Thanks again I feel like I might be finally getting somewhere haha.

Yes, this test is performed w/ Key Off. Purpose is to confirm integrity of wiring/connectors all the way to the ECM. If good, then ECM must be causing the code 4 due to internal circuit board fault.

good luck

there is no resistance from that side of the connector which leads me to believe a problem with wiring/connectors based on your reply. Thanks by the way. How would you suggest I fix this problem? I decided to test the resistance of the other pins on the same connector that is on the ECM side and those were also not reading any resistance if that helps?

To confirm a fault, I would remove the connector at the distributor and short the CKP pins to ground. Now check at the ECM whether one or both are open or shorted to ground. If open, then fault in wiring must be found and repaired.

good luck

Thank you very much for the help. I ended up replacing the ECM from a u-pull yard very cheap as a friend of my family owns one locally. After installing, there was no check engine light and the engine now revs above 3500. Problem solved. On to the next issue, any input would be much appreciated, I am starting a new thread now as it deals with a different subject.
