Default 95 honda accord air conditioning belt

Hello all I have a 95 honda accord that i just bought and when i took it to the mechanic he said the air conditioning belt is missing and is frozen. I was then told by my stepdad that if i dont get that fixed then the car will overheat. is this true.
Thanx in advance

V-6 or 4-cyl engine?? (I'll assume 4-cyl.)

How about the alternator? The same belt drives the alternator and the AC compressor.

If he installed a short belt, to drive the alternator but not the AC, then you're OK. Well, you won't have AC but that doesn't pose any danger to the car.

If the AC compressor is seized, then you'll need a new compressor. That's expensive and you'll probably need the whole AC system flushed out because there might be metal shavings from the compressor through the system.

Some cars (not Honda 1995 4-cyl) drive the waterpump off the same belt. If that were the case, then your step-dad would be correct.

On a 95 V6 engine, there are three belts. The alternator, power steering, and the a/c compressor each have their own belt.

I attached a picture. If that belt that has the spray paint in red is missing, then the only problem will be that the a/c doesn't work.

Default missing and frozen

If the belt is missing, how does the mechanic know it's frozen. I think he means the A/C compressor is frozen. Having no A/C just makes you hot not your car. Are you hot?
