Update 2

Two days and 30 miles later the shift is getting better all the time. I cannot believe what just one drain-fill can do to shifting. I will wait till the weekend to do another drain-fill. I do not wish to give the tranny a 'shock' by completely changing the fluid all at one time. ... or I am just plain lazy...

I'll keep updating for the next month or so on the shift conditions. I plan to do a drain-fill 4 times. 1 down 3 to go.

awesome. I remember when I changed the trans fluid for the first time. The trans. never shifted so smooth before. Of course the previous owner had NEVER done a trans fluid change in the 90k miles she had the car, so it helped. a lot.

You are right. And I am beginning to think that Honda-policy of drain-fill once every 30K miles (or is it 15K?) is actually sufficient to keep the trans running. 4x drain-fill might be an avoidable waste.

But we will see.... if the 2nd drain-fill doesn't produce much difference, I'll stop....

This particular year honda accord does shift harder yes. It was done to improve transmission life and prevent slippage. my buddy has a 95 civic automatic with 370k and the original transmission. shifts hard but it will last a very long time. don't try to change it. now if it knocks things off the dash then there is a problem.

while not check all the solenoids if they are working normally. My accord 98 was shifting hard and erratic from gear 1 to 2, I have to replace the clutch pressure control solenoid labeled A2. It starts shifting smoothly when driving. That's all

Riley does your accord get kind of clunky at low speeds when car is warming up? mine has always done that.

when I was having problems with my transmission it was making clunking and jerking at low speeds but at high speed it shifts smoothly. i changed the clutch pressure control solenoids all gears begins to shift smoothly. But you still need to scan for codes. My correct name is DR.RIDLEY
