This must be the day for technical questions in the "WELCOME NEWBIE" area. I'm gonna move this one too. Welcome!

Check BOTH ends of all the battery cables for dirty/loose/corroded connections?

How have you checked the starter?

If the one click you hear when trying to start the car is from the starter, then the solenoid is not making a good contact. If you have someone hold the key in the start position, repeatedly tap the starter housing near electrical contacts with the handle of a screwdriver (light/medium force).

If the starter turns the engine, then you should replace the starter solenoid and contacts.
