Default 96 Accord A/C / Vent

Hey there guys,

I got two questions, first off does anyone have a picture of where the recharge line for the A/C is?

Secondly my two center vents are blowing, and I'm just stumped on that one.

Thanks,
Chris

1. High and low side.....leading question so I will go into detail. Strongly suggest to always charge/check ac pressures on both the High and Low side of the system.....then if nothing else we don't know if this is a 4 or 6 cyl, so answering the question is difficult.

2. Not sure of the issue? Are the center vents the only ones that work no matter how you change the dash controls? Or the center blow but not the "outter" vents?

Sorry about that, its a 4cyl lx.

Yea the center vents won't blow any air just the outer pass/driver vents are blowing. No matter what the controls are. I've only heard all vents not blowing at certain speeds.

1. The attached pic. shows the high and low sides are the ac.

2. No air blowing from the center vent may be due to the mode control motor, mode control switch, or the center door flap on the heater unit stuck.

Go download the service manual to see how to test the motor and switch.

Recharging w/o a AC manifold pressure gauge set is highly imprecise and can result in damage to the system.

If your charge is low, you have a leak which needs to be located and fixed before recharging. Look for leaks around compressor (dirty oil ring around clutch rotation plane) and oil/dirt stains at hose compression fittings, connections, and condensor face. If there are no obvious leaks, the leak may be in the evaporator or expansion valve (must be removed to repair).

Regarding your vent issue, try cycling the vents from one position to next arriving last at the "All Upper" position. For some reason my 94EX will only blow from all if I do this. I suspect somethings sticking.

good luck

TX- Look at the linkage. From the drivers side footwell, look up to the center, you'll see the linkage. I've had the "lube" the plastic arms to help mine move to the proper "vents".....
