Exclamation 96 accord gauges

hey i have a 96 2.2 non vtech auto and im havin a problem with the rpm & speedometer. the rpm needle moves up & down ,then the speed stays up at whatever speed im at & slowly moves down. when im on the highway at wide open throttle the car hesitates & the light that lets me no what gear im in turns OFF i have no clue what it could be. i got bout 134000 , just replace fuel pump& fuel filter that was one of tha issues , someone told me it was a vaccum hose so they disconnected it & that just raised tha fuel pressure, tha hose is back were it should be NOW,
ANY help or advice would really help

Sorry, a bit confused.

When the gauges move up and down, is the performance of the car acting up.

Either way, stop by a parts store that reads codes for free. Get the code(s), should begin with a "P" and four digits. Post them, or lack of, and we can go from there.

Without the exact codes I'll have to go with the description you've provided, and the D4 light going out is also of concern....and no code for it.

The egr, I'd start with cleaning the ports/chamber.

Test the rear O2.

Do all of this before replacing the cat.
