Default 96 accord wont start

hi guys i have a 96 honda accord 2.2 vtech 4 doors recently it started acting up. some time it would startup normal but some times it would take 5 - 6 tries and now it wont start at all.

i have changed the following

1 spark plugs
2 wires
3 rotor bug
4 main fuel pump relay

i have checked

current in each of the fours spark plug wires

and still no luck, plz advise what i should do. i just hope its not the fuel pump.

Does the starter turn the engine at the normal rate?

Check for any codes stored in the ECU. You can short a blue two pin service connector under the glove box using a thin paperclip and count the ECU flashes. See: http://www.dhost.info/accordinfo/howto/cel.html Post any codes you find on here. EDIT: Your 96 will only have the two pin connector and does not have the three pin connector next to it. Use that two pin connector as described in the directions.

How did you verify that you have spark (current in all 4 plugs)? I would suggest that you use a timing light, because the visual spark test can be misleading.

For fuel, you replaced the MFR, so lets assume that is ok. When you first turn the key to the II position (don't try to start it), does the fuel pump turn on for about two seconds during the clicks from the main relay? The pump makes a faint buzzing/whirling sound from the back seat area, so listen carefully.

thank you for your reply, the only thing i so far have managed to do was i borrowed the code reader from autozone and tried to read the codes if that would make things easier but for some reason it says ERROR IN CONNECTION i tried the same thing on my toyota corolla and it would connect. i went back to autozone and talked to the guy and he says it mihgt be my ECM. plz advise.

Could also be flaky wiring between the ECU and the plug where you put the scanner. Don't run off & buy a new ECU without ruling out the easier stuff.
